New Years in Amsterdam!


10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...


HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

This is the first new year's celebration (that I can remember) I didn't spend in my hometown. Sure enough I wasn't even on my own continent. Instead I spent it in Amsterdam with my roommate, her boyfriend, and some friends. Our friend Rene came over early on the 31st and made us some traditional Dutch food. At about 6pm we headed for the train station and started our new year's journey...we would return to Zwolle next year...ha sorry, new year's puns.

Just our luck we would have "typical Dutch weather." It rained most of the night, which ruined our original plans of bringing in the New Year in Museumplein. By the time we got there (all soaking wet..) nobody was there, and we found out the celebration had also been moved to another square on the other side of town. We decided not to go since we were closer to the club we had bought tickets to, and just hung out my the large  I AMSTERDAM letters until the club was open.

Soon it was 11pm and we were able to get in the club, sure enough we were some of the first to arrive. But it was alright. We were finally somewhere nice, warm, and dry.
We just sat and hung out for a while on their upper seating level, until it was officially New Years.
Hello 2013!!! and the rest is history...






























We hung out at the club until it closed at 5am (still not 2013 in Wisconsin sadly...not even New York..) We walked around Amsterdam, because everywhere was closed or closing and slowly but surely made our way to the train station. Once there we saw everyone sleeping, and slowly reaching the hangover stage. Our train  back to Zwolle wasn't until 7:40am. (Happy New Year's USA!) Once back at Leliestraat we went to bed until middle of the afternoon and then just sat around talking and watching movies until we could go to bed again for the night.
