Den Haag

So we haven't traveled in a while...and there's a good reason for that. It's called school, sadly. Yup, school has become number one priority while studying abroad...who woulda guessed that would happen?! haha

Anyways, so we decided to go to the Den Haag, or The Hague, for the day.

The Hague
The Hague is the capital city of the province of South Holland in The Netherlands. It is also the third largest city in The Netherlands, right after Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government and Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Council of the State, but the city is not the capital.

It was raining most of the day, so we just did a little bit of wandering and sightseeing before heading to the Omniversum, which we had tickets to (included in our return train ticket package).

A few key sights we saw were The Noordeinde Palace and Het Binnenhof.

The Noordeinde Palace
There are several palaces in The Hague and ‘Paleis Noordeinde’ (Noordeinde Palace) is one of them. It has been a palace of the Royal House since 1609 when the state presented it to William of Orange’s widow as a gift. Today, the Dutch monarch uses it as a working palace.

It is not open to the public, so this is as close as we could get to the Queen of Holland...though it's already a lot closer than we got to the Queen of England ;)

Het Binnenhof ~ Courtyard
Throughout the ages, ‘Het Binnenhof’ in The Hague has been the center of politics in the Netherlands. All political matters and affairs of state were and still are discussed here.
The Knight's Hall is a large hall in the Gothic building in the middle of the Binnenhof.

After this we just wandered around at the rest of the architecture in Den Haag.

Omniversum
Like I mentioned above, we had tickets that included a movie at the Omniversum, which is their IMAX theater. By the time we found it the next show was "Into the Artic" which we thought would be interesting, especially if they showed the Northern Lights, however it was mostly about global warming and how the Polar Bears, Walruses, Caribou, and Birds etc. are losing their homes. But was still fun to watch, and they issued headphones so you could watch in English, which was very convenient. Afterwards we were told we could watch the next show for only 5euros, and we figured why not. The next one was on The Rocky Mountain Express. All about the hardships and issues they had with a transcontinental railroad from west to eastern Canada.

Now here are some random photos we took, as well as a few Architecture ones I found of Den Haag.
