First weekend in Zwolle :)

Finally the weekend! yay!

What can I say, I am loving Zwolle! Studying abroad at a school known for International students to study at was a great idea. I have literally met people in the past few days from all corners of the world. Some Danish girls decided friday to post these signs and have a little get together in their room.

It's so funny how different all our cultures are and to represent your country and have people ask you about things as common as what you do for fun and "American" movies. Everywhere is different, and it's so nice to meet people and realize how different it is.

Saturday...
One major thing I still needed to check off my to-do list: Get a bike. So we got ready to hit the streets for a shop Sheila at Windesheim told us was having a sale with cheap second-hand bikes past City Center. As we were getting ready, Jonathan from down the hall stopped by asking if we wanted to go to the market in downtown. We didn't know there was one and decided it would be fun, since we were already headed that direction for my bike adventure. Now this market, I would say is like a farmer's market back home, but also has clothes vendors.

From here we bought a few corn on the cobs, which were not terrible, but we heated them up in a not-so-great microwave...and the corn kernels may or may not have been completely done.

After doing a little more shopping and looking around, we grabbed a cup of coffee at a sit down little area much like the one pictured here above. It was past 6pm, or 18:00, so things were closing up and so we came back to our apartment. We hung out for a bit, I skyped my parents before they went out for Harley rally. Then....Lise came knocking on our door.

SURPRISE!!!!
Lise, my SUN mentor, was knocking on everyone's doors saying they were throwing a surprise party for "Wilson" Wu Shen. This we could not say no to. So again we grabbed our chairs and some glasses and headed on over. Before you knew it we were squeezing 30+ into this tiny single bedroom to surprise them when they came back from dinner.

It was really cool when we found out the reason for the surprise party. A little while back a group of about 20 of so came from Windesheim to Wilson's school out in China and so when Wilson came to study at their school here, they got together and had dinner at someone's house. While they were finishing up, 2 of them came to the apartment building and started gathering people with Lise to surprise him, and Deng Lin, when they got back. It was really fun, since they had never experienced something like a surprise party.

Now today is Sunday, and "classes" start tomorrow, really it's just the introduction for Internationals but still. So we are just relaxing and getting ready for our first week of school in The Netherlands :)
